As the newest addition to VIBE Katie Rafter brings a “Womans Touch” to the group and enjoys singing leads and harmonies with the group. She was born and raised on music, as her mother sang for the Sweet Adelines in Seattle for many years and often stood in on the practices with her. She grew up on Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and EmmyLou Harris, along with Etta James and Billy Holiday. She enjoys ALL genres though, and definetly enjoys a little Rock n Roll just like the next person!

Picnic Pines is a wonderful restaurant and bar right on Medical Lake. It is a very scenic atmosphere with a very friendly staff. We are really looking forward to playing there. Don tells me he is going to go early to try and catch him a big one.. in Medical Lake as Picnic Pines also offers camping, fishing, and boating. Well, well, what can I say? Our crem della crem. Kaniksu was an absolutly party last year, and we are exstatic to be back for their Labor Day dance party once agian. 2011 was ridonculous, and it’s hard to say what’s gonna happen this year, but it’s going to be balls out and nuts! For those of you who don’t get that joke, Kaniksu is a nudist ranch. Did VIBE get naked last year? We’ll, let’s just say it was a no holds barred event. If that doesn’t spell it out for you, then yes, we did. And, I can tell you it’s probably gonna happen this year. I can also tell you Don’s…well, I won’t go there The good folks up at Kaniksu are incredibly graciuos, and do they know how to party! We’ve been looking forward to going back since last year. So, if you feel like let your hair down (so to speak) this is a party you don’t want to miss. Plus, you get comfortable being naked after a little bit, um, so I’m told.. Besides, you don’t have to if you don’t want to. But, if you do want to see the rockin’ist band in Spokane party down, and I mean all the way down, here’s your chance. Don’t miss it, it’ll be worth it, I promise!

“Magic Don” Hawkins

Don Hawkins has been writing, singing and playing music for over 35 years in a variety of musical projects. Most recently he did a two year stint as George Harrison in the Beatles tribute band, “Meet Revolver” here in Spokane. Playing in this project he met Michael Lynch, aka Ringo, and decided to collaborate with him on VIBE. Although most of his professional success has come as a result of songwriting, he is now happy to have the opportunity to re-discover and explore more of the music of his past as VIBE pursues a blues, R&B, Motown, based format for the listening and dancing pleasure of their audience.

Cindy Coberly

Cindy Coberly has been playing piano/keyboards since age five, and studied piano classically in college. Cindy has taught piano, written and arranged music, and directed church choirs, musicals, and worship teams. She also sang in school, community, and church choirs. Cindy also enjoys playing the flute. Cindy began playing the blues in 2005, when she was asked to join the Trimmed and Burnin’ Blues Project in Bellingham, WA, by now husband, Shannon Coberly. Together they performed for years at the Back 2 Blues Gospel Blues Festival in Chilliwak, BC, and also played at the Mt. Baker Blues Festival. Through the Trimmed and Burnin Blues Project she met drummer, Michael Lynch, as he too was living in Bellingham at that time. Upon her move to Spokane she and Mike began collaborating on VIBE, and are happy to be playing music together once again. Cindy has had the honor to be asked to perform with national gospel blues artists Larry Howard, Ashely Cleveland, and Darrell Mansfield.

“G” Train

“G” began playing at age ten, and continued playing through his teens when he discovered that playing guitar improved his opportunities with girls and made his coolness index rise exponentially. Through the seventies he played in cover bands in clubs throughout the Southern California area with styles ranging from rock to country. In the late 70′s and 80′s G played the then burgeoning New Wave/Punk circuits in Hollywood and West LA. Through the 80′s and 90′s G began playing in a number of gospel groups and served in churches throughout the southeast as a music minister while still maintaining an active schedule playing live music venues. In the mid 90′s, G decided that he needed to pursue other career opportunities and did not actively play music for several years. However, in the late 2010, after experiencing a significant health crisis, G realized that he made a mistake in setting aside his love of music, and is now once again pursuing music and performance with all his heart.

Mike Lynch began his drumming journey following receiving his very first drum set as a gift from his Uncle John. Mike began learning how to play the drums by listening carefully and playing along with his very favorite band, The Beatles. This experience layed the the foundation groove and playing what is right for the music. This greatly contributed to his and a love and appreciation for blues music and drumming. Following years of playing in rock and blues bands, and stint as Ringo in the local Beatles tribute band, where he met “Magic Don,” Mike is thrilled to be playing with such talented musicians in this “audience centered” band that is dedicated to putting on a great show and playing great music.

Well, I’d like to say that we’re getting classier, thus getting classier gigs, but that isn’t really the case. Nonetheless, we’re quite happy to be playin for our first time at Ripples in Spokane. Ripples is a great venue, certainly well known as such in the Spokane area. They’ve got great food, and this is great venue for music, fun, and dancing. We hope to see you there, too! And, if the band looks a little out of place, it might just be that G is wearing his sunglasses, biker outfit, and cape.. What can we say, other than G loves to P-A-R-T-Y!! Ripples Facebook

Aw, what is it about VIBE and wine cellars that just go so well together? Just like wine and cheese we are. But here’s one thing that isn’t cheesy; VIBE playing great R&B and Motown tunes to dance to! This is no joke people; we take our job highly seriously! Btw, has anyone seen my cheeshead hat? Cause, you know, I thought it’d go well for this gig; cheese and wine, anyone, anyone??? The Rockwall winery is in the heart of Okanogan county, an extremely beautiful area. We’ll pride ourselves on making beautiful music so appropriate for this venue. And, a little wine, a little cheese, little dancing, beautiful scenery, I believe there will be romance in the air.
